There is something earthy and nostalgic about Khor Wei Kiang's Art. Heavily accented with Malay and Chinese motifs such as Kampung houses, coconut trees and fish, his work reminiscent of days gone by, simpler times and oddly, tribaland aboriginal art.
Born in Sungai Petani, this Kedah native attended Kuala Lumpur College of Fine Art in 1993 and obtain his diploma. Currently the resident artist for Pucuk Rebung in KLCC, he has participated in more than 30 prestigious art exhibitions since 1994. His work apparently has strong international appeal and is showcased in Countries such as Japan, Korea, Middle East, the UK and the USA.
His collection, 'Endless Love - The Fish Series' features intricately-decorated fish in Picasso-style colouring with bold, strong lines: simple yet complex, childishly straigh forward and a little crude. His trademark medium, the gunny, complements the down to earth style of his art perfectly. Although not really extraordinally or jaw-dropping, this artist collection boasts some very compelling pieces that will probably interest hardcore art enthusiasts.
